Success for Samuel

Success for Samuel

Beginning this September, we are embarking on a great adventure as parents:

Homeschooling our son with Asperger’s Syndrome.

SAMSUNGWe want to do everything within our power to set our son up for academic achievement, who has thus far been unable to have success in the traditional classroom setting.  For us, this means taking some pretty drastic steps.  This summer, I am leaving my job to prepare our curriculum for the upcoming year and dedicate my time to doing it right.

We believe that in order to see Samuel thrive, we need to integrate Occupational Therapy/Sensory Integration techniques into the material itself, as well as open up the doors to him in his particular areas of gifting, which is arts and music.  We will be video-journaling the entire process here in hopes of helping other parents who are looking for education solutions for their children on the Autism spectrum.

To say that we’ll be doing this on a shoe-string budget is an understatement, and we are asking our family, friends, and my blog followers for help.

How Can I Help?

I’m glad you asked!  HERE is a link to our Amazon.com wish list where I have added important items that we’ll need next year.

Below, you’ll see a GoFundMe link to send funds to help pay for music lessons, tuition for Christian Youth Theater, field trips, special projects, and other supplies.  All funds go into their own separate account that is used only for Samuel’s education.

We will be video-journaling and blogging his progress and all of the behind the scenes preparation and processes all along the way right here on this blog page.

Thank you!!!

*Update 5/29/14:  Most of the curriculum items from Amazon have been purchased!  Thank you, everyone!  Our biggest need currently is funds for the extra-curricular activities which will be a vital part in Samuel’s education.  Please consider giving at the GoFundMe link above.  Thank you!
